Guidelines for Safety of Girls in PU Colleges

BENGALURU: The Department of Pre-university Education has issued guidelines for safety of girl students in PU colleges across the state.

In a circular, the department director issued the 18-point guidelines which are mandatory for colleges to implement.

All PU college must constitute a committee comprising women faculty, parents and student representatives. The committee should meet once a month and interact with girl students.

If any case of ragging or sexual harassment is reported, then the committee must immediately report the matter to the jurisdictional police station, according to the circular.

This apart, the colleges must install CCTV cameras and hire security staff through registered agencies and the personnel should be changed once in three months.
