Allurement Charge: Notice to Corporator

BENGALURU: Former deputy chief minister and BJP leader R Ashoka has sent a legal notice to the Congress corporator who had accused him of offering money to to switch sides.

Ashoka was accused of offering Rs 2.5 crore to Chowdeshwarai Ward corporator Padmavathi to quit the Congress. Bengaluru Congress leaders on Friday had alleged that BJP was trying to lure its corporators to wrest power in the BBMP. The Congress has also decided to keep corporators in a secluded place till the mayoral polls on September 11.

In the legal notice, Ashoka has asked the corporator to retract her “false charges” against him. He also asked her husband Amarnath to issue a clarification or come out with documents to prove the charges against him.

The former deputy chief minister also said that he would initiate a defamation suit of Rs 10 crore besides filing a case of criminal conspiracy if the corporator does not issue a clarification.
