BENGALURU: An Abu Dhabi-based company has decided to invest `300 to ensure that Jog Falls in Uttara Kannada will have water throughout the year.
The company, named NMC, signed an MoU on this at the ongoing Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart 2015. The company will ensure that water at the falls is recirculated through the year, and will also develop tourism infrastructure around it. According an NMC representative, `300 crore will go into ensuring water supply to the falls, but the company will invest a total of `1,050 crore as it will also construct a seven-star cottage, tree houses, a four-star hotel, a budget hotel and other tourist amenities.
Bengaluru will also soon have three new theme parks, according to the project profiles revealed at the event. One of them will be a snow park while the other two will be along the lines of Disneyland and Lego Theme Park. The three parks will be set up at a cost of `193 crore.
The snow park is expected to come up on a total area of 90,000 sqft. It alone will stand on 20,000 sqft, as there will also be a family entertainment centre (35,000 sqft) and a retail centre (32,000 sqft).
The Tourism Department has also proposed developing a cruise circuit, given there are 10 minor and one major port along the Karnataka coastline. The department is exploring the options on how to go about developing this. Among the other projects at the Travel Mart were area development near Alamatti dam, development of tourism infrastructure at Manapalla Lake, Udupi, and a cruise dinner project at Halasuru Lake.
Cable Cars
The Tourism Department will develop cable cars at Chamundi Hill in Mysuru, Nandi Hills in Chikballapur, Kemmannugundi in Chikkamagaluru and Madhugiri Fort in Tumakuru. These projects are estimated to cost `80 crore.
