Awareness on Restoration of Lakes

Express News Service

BENGALURU:  Horamavu Parisara Abhivruddhi Samithi, along with Namma Bengaluru Foundation, organised a Kere Habba at the Horamavu Agara Lake to create awareness on lake restoration on Saturday.

Kere Habba featured a variety of activities such as an informative workshop on solid waste management and recreational slots.

Commenting on the community participation for Kere Habba over the years, George Varghese, Founder Trustee, Horamavu Parisara Abhivruddhi Samithi said, “With 40 per cent of Bengaluru’s population depending on groundwater, the need for restoring our lakes needs  to be emphasised on. Bengaluru has just enough groundwater to last for three more years. If we don’t sustain and rejuvenate 185 of the remaining lakes, we are staring at a huge water problem in the near future.”
