Undertrial Murdered in Central Prison

BENGALURU: A 27-year-old undertrial was murdered by a gang of four in the central prison in Parappana Agrahara on Friday. Sources said the accused undertrials picked a quarrel with the victim, Ganesh, over decorating a pooja corridor where a Ganesha idol had been installed.

The victim was a native of Gubbi in Tumakuru district and was working at a garage in the city. He was arrested by Vidyaranyapura police on 12 January for eve-teasing and was also charged with stalking. He had earlier been arrested for bike theft.

The police have arrested the accused - Sathish, Prabhu, Prashanth and Bharath.

Jail officials said the incident took place around 9.30 am when the prisoners were eating breakfast The murder was a result of a quarrel turning violent.
