BENGALURU: After losing lots of money in making films, a 38-year-old co-producer committed suicide by hanging at his water bottling  plant  in Shettyhalli in Peenya on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Abhijit Patil, a resident of Kirloskar Layout, who was also into real estate business.

He co-produced two recent Kannada movies -- ‘Simple Aag Ond Love Story’ and ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’.

Police said the incident came to light when Farooq, Patil’s business partner in a water purifying unit, found the body and informed his family.

A police officer said, “We found no suicide note, but he had taken loans from some of his friends and lost money in his business and film-making. We suspect this could have led to the suicide. We are questioning some of his friends to know if anyone had forced him to return the money.”
