Painting Competition for Students on Coast Guard Day

CHENNAI: As part of the 38th Coast Guard Day celebrations, the regional headquarters (east) in association with Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (CGWWA) (east) organised a painting competition for youngsters on Wednesday at the Coast Guard Air Station, Chennai.

The event saw participation from over 200 children from 20 Chennai schools.

The themes for the competition were cartoon characters or marine life for Classes 1 to 5, paint your planet or solar system, or Swachh Bharat campaign for a better tomorrow for Classes 6 to 8 and the Indian Coast Guard for Classes 9 to 12.

Biswajit Balasubramanian of Forum Art Gallery, Chennai was the chief guest. He distributed certificates to participants and prizes to the winners. Inspector general S P Sharma, commander, Coast Guard Region (east), and Ila Sharma, president, CGWWA (east), were the guests of honour. A documentary on the Indian Coast Guard was screened.
