BENGALURU: Now, you can reach city corporation officials with your civic problems with just a click. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has launched a mobile app to address public grievances.

BBMP Sahaya lets you complain on issues relating to 20 departments, including waste management, road infrastructure, public safety, health, animal control and forest.

Corruption- and encroachment-related complaints can also be sent via the mobile app, a senior BBMP official said. Mayor B N Manjunatha Reddy launched the app on Friday.

Once you select the category, the app gives you options. “For example, if you select garbage, it will give you a list of options like segregation, burning and sweepers issue. Your complaint can be sent along with a photograph,” the official added.

New App for Tree-cutting Permission

You can also apply for tree- or branch-cutting permission online. BBMP has developed an application that can be downloaded from its website (www.bbmp.gov.in).

According to Karnataka Preservation of Tree Act, you need the Tree Officer’s (or Assistant Conservator of Forest, in the case of BBMP) permission to cut trees.

The app aims to make the process faster and easier for the public as well as the Forest Department officials.

People can check their application status through the BBMP website and get SMS alerts at each stage. The concerned official’s contact number is also included in these updates.

Applicants can download the permission letter from the website, said Special Commissioner (Forest) Kumar Pushkar.
