KSRTC drivers, conductors get 8 percent pay hike

BENGALURU: About 1.15 lakh bus drivers and conductors of KSRTC and three other road transport corporations in the state have reason to celebrate as the state Cabinet on Wednesday approved an eight per cent pay hike for them.

The revision, which would remain in effect for the next four years, would mean an additional burden of Rs 1,131 crore on the exchequer for this period, said Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra.

The cabinet also approved the proposal for granting Rs 152 crore financial aid to BMTC to bear the interest burden on the loan to be procured for purchasing 1,000 new buses to improve its services in Bengaluru.

A proposal for granting 6.25 acres for Kurubara Sangha at Magadi in Ramanagaram district for the construction of an educational institution and Kanaka Bhavana has received the nod. The cabinet also approved grant of 4 acres and 8 guntas at Byalada Halli in Davangere district for Kaginele Gurupeeta, the spiritual centre of the community.
