BENGALURU: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has decided to undertake commercial development of a huge portion of its land around the Nagasandra Metro station. The tender document in this connection was called for on Thursday evening.
The plan is to develop around 56,227 sqmt of land along the Nagasandra Metro station on a public-private partnership basis, a Metro source said. The proposal is to commercially exploit the land at its disposal to mobilise additional revenue.
In an arrangement that will benefit both parties, the document says the successful bidder may integrate the property with the Metro station.
“It must provide temporary and easy access to connect to the Metro station during the construction period by way of staircase, lift, elevators, etc,” it says.
The available land will be ideal for setting up of destination or speciality malls and commercial complexes, it adds.
The Metro has gone in for property development at a few of its stations to mobilise additional resources.
It had showcased BMRCL properties running into 32 acres near Yeshwantpur, Peenya, Jalahalli, Nagasandra, Mysore Road, Banashankari and S V Road Metro stations during the Global Investors’ Meet held in the city in February.
