Two arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly stealing nearly 500 phones

BENGALURU: In a major breakthrough, two persons who stole around 500 mobile phones in the city were arrested by the Vidyaranyapura police. 

The arrested have been identified as Areef Pasha (40), resident of J J Nagar, and Suber (45), hailing from Kerala. 

According to the police, the accused used to target bus commuters. The duo is said to have allegedly stolen nearly 492 mobile phones in the city, and then sold them in other States like Kerala and Tamil Nadu to avoid the police.

The police have seized 53 iPhones, 87 Samsung phones, 35 Sony, 50 Micromax, 20 HTC, 16 Lenovo, 10 Motorola, 10 Carbon, 17 Nokia, 8 LG and 170 phones of other companies.

The police said that the recovered phones were worth Rs. 40 lakh in total.
