Bengaluru boy scores 54th rank in JEE Main examination

BENGALURU: The results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main were declared on Thursday. The offline exams were held on April 2 and online exams on April 8 and 9.  

A few students from the city have secured place in the top 100 at all-India level.

Ninad Hemanth Huilgol, a student of DPS South in Bengaluru, of  secured 54 in all-India rank by scoring 325 out of 360 and Vishwajit P Hegde secured 65th rank with a score of 323. Sumanth R Hegde bagged 93 all-India rank.  

Other students from the state who are eligible for JEE Advanced are Karthik Varma (all-India rank 192) Anirudh S (273), Deepak K (306), Suhas Sathesh Rao (283), Dhruv Sriram (435), Sahil Agarwal (649) and Aradh Bisarya (728). JEE Advanced is scheduled to be held on May 21.

Dreaming big

The story of Vishwajit P Hegde who secured 65 all-India rank is oe that will inspire other students. Hailing from Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district, Vishwajit comes from a modest family. His father runs a utensil store.

With a dream to study at IIT, Vishwajit traveled to Bengaluru to join Deeksha Centre for Learning. “He used to cry in classes. He even thought of going back, but his parents supported him and helped him to come out of the shock. After a few months, we saw a different side to Vishwajit,” said a teacher.

“I want to join IIT Bombay as it is my father’s dream,” said Vishwajit.

Ninad Hemant Huilgol, who is the state topper and secured all-India rank 54, wants to pursue Basic Science from IISc, Bengaluru.
