BENGALURU: Not even a single government degree college from the state managed to get A++ or A+ grade in the latest National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation.
As per the data available from the department of collegiate education, over 179 government colleges had applied for NAAC accreditation.

But only nine colleges managed to get A grade. While four colleges got B++ grade, 12 others were rated B+. As many as 138 colleges had to remain satisfied with B grade.

NAAC released the accreditation results on Wednesday and it was subsequently uploaded on the website of collegiate education department. Information shared reveals most of the government colleges failed to meet the parameters set by the NAAC. Since July 2016, NAAC has revised its grading system.

Senior faculty members blame the poor performance of state colleges mainly on the lack of basic infrastructure, and absence of regular principals and faculties.

“Only 30 out of 412 government colleges have regular principals. Same is the situation in case of faculties. About 70% are guest faculty members. NAAC considers all these points while assessing and giving accreditation,” said a senior faculty member at RC College, Bengaluru.
