BENGALURU: The Department of Sericulture, Bangalore University, has put its Post Graduate students under pressure by advancing the exam dates.

Initially, the exams for the Sericulture/Life Science was scheduled to begin from July 11. But, on Friday, the university issued a revised time table. The exams will now begin from June 28. Condemning this, hundreds of students staged a protest at Jnana Bharathi campus.

Prashanth, a student, said, “Many of our classmates have gone to their hometowns as we have study holidays. How will they know about the change? The University never sends us an email or SMS.”

When contacted, BU Registrar (evaluation) Prof Shankar Reddy said, “The exams were initially scheduled from June 28. But, due to a typographical error, it was wrongly published as July 11. So we announced the revised timetable.”

Protest against trifurcation

The non-teach ing staff of BU staged a protest against the trifurcation and sharing of resources of the mother university with two new universities. The staff demanded the government to provide funds instead of asking BU to share its funds. “We will submit a representation to the higher education minister
soon,” they said.
