BENGALURU: The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is going ahead with its decision to shift the campus to the neighbouring district Ramanagara in the midst of the academic year, despite clear directions from the Governor and Chancellor Vajubhai Vala not to do so.
The University has sent official invites to syndicate and academic senate members to take part in the event to be held on Sunday.
When contacted, Registrar (Administration) of the University Noor Mansoor said that no official communication was received from Raj Bhavan in this regard. However, he said the authorities were going ahead as per the directions from vice-chancellor (VC) Dr K S Ravindranath.
"The VC told me that he had spoken to the Chancellor and asked me to go ahead with shifting process," Noor Mansoor said.
It can be recalled that Governor Vajubhai Vala had issued an official communication to the VC earlier, insisting upon desisting from shifting the campus from Bengaluru in the interest of students.
Following this, on Friday evening, medical education minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil and Ramanagara district in-charge minister D K Shivakumar visited Raj Bhavan and met the Governor to convince him to withdraw the communiqué.
Reportedly, the Governor has not yet reverted to the University, permitting relocation.
