BENGALURU: Pre-University Education Department Director C Shikha is being flooded with letters from students, parents and faculty members from across the state, appreciating the department’s efforts in conducting a leak-proof examination this year.

The letters started coming in just a day after the PU final exam concluded. A majority of the letters were from science students.

In one letter, a college girl from Koppa in Chikkamagaluru district writes, “We are really grateful to you madam as you conducted exams in a way that there were no rumours about any paper leak. I am writing this letter as soon as my Chemistry paper got over... This is the only way I can thank you. Thanks for understanding how lakhs of students were fearful of a paper leak this time.”

The fear of a paper leak was palpable this year after a series of question paper leaks last year. The PUE department had even witnessed huge protests outside its head office last year and also at various district offices following the paper leak.
