MYSURU: Senior journalist Rajashekar Koti died of a heart attack in Bengaluru between the intervening hours of Wednesday and Thursday. He was 71.

Koti is survived by his wife Nirmala Koti, children Ravi Koti also a journalist, Rashmi Koti and Ramya Koti.

According to the sources close to family, he had gone to Bengaluru on a work. He was rushed to a hospital after he complained of uneasiness, but could not be revived.

He died due to myocardial infarction (MI) commonly known as heart attack.

The mortal remains were brought to Mysuru on Thursday morning and were kept at his residence on Ramanuja road to enable public to pay their last respects.

Koti was the editor of 'Andolana' a popular Kannada daily in Mysuru, which he started as a weekly in 1972. His tryst with journalism started in 'Vishwavani' (then edited by Patil Puttappa) and later worked in 'Prapancha' a weekly magazine. A born socialist, he was widely known for his hard-hitting thoughts that also influenced him to take up many social activities.
