4.2 thousand start-ups registered: Priyank Kharge

BENGALURU: Hailing Karnataka as the first State to have a start-up policy, Karnataka IT, BT Minister Priyank Kharge said that the State government was encouraging start-ups by introducing new programmes for them.

He was speaking at ‘The talk Big Ideas’ meet held in the city recently, where several start-ups, small and medium enterprises and others took part. He said that Karnataka, especially Bengaluru had a high density of start-ups when compared to other States of the country. The State has identified a majority of them through the start-up Cell of IT, BT and Science and Technology department.
Responding to a question, Kharge said there were about 7,200 start-ups in the country. Of them, 4,200 have already registered with the start-up cell of the State government.

Among other participants at the event were Rajeev Banduni, CEO,  Growth Enabler, Lavanya Nalli, vice-chairperson of Nalli group and others.The Talk, was initiated with the idea of finding solution to critical issues concerning the start-up sector in the state.
