Karnataka government back to old rule on minority institutions

From our online archive

BENGALURU: The state department of Primary and Secondary Education has withdrawn the draft rules published under Karnataka Educational  Institutions (Recognition of minority educational institutions terms and conditions) which stated that a minority educational institution should have 25% students belonging to any religious or linguistic minority community.

It was opposed by school managements and other stakeholders. Following the withdrawal of draft rules, the earlier rule stating there should be 25% of students belonging to only a particular linguistic or religious minority will be in place.
