Gang involved in 40 burglaries falls in police net

BENGALURU: Indiranagar police on Sunday arrested a notorious criminal along with two of his associates who were involved in 40 cases of burglaries in and around the city.

The arrested are Saleem alias Bombay (44), his associates Dhananjaya R (25), and  Rajesh M (23). It is said that Saleem was operating a gang while serving a jail term in Parappana Agrahara prison.

Police sources said that Saleem was serving the jail term after he was arrested in Srirangapatna on charges of burglary and robbery cases in Peenya, Malleswaram and Rajagoplanagar.

He came in contact with other inmates in the jail and allegedly created his own gang. He gave training to his associates and all were released on bail a few months ago. 

Saleem took his associates along with him to identify locked houses and how to break open the door and windows. They went to various areas in the city late in the night and break in during early hours to rob valuables.
