BENGALURU: A police inspector attached to the Ramamurthy Nagar police station has filed a complaint against a woman for allegedly harassing him, repeatedly pressuring him to fall in love with her, and threatening to die by suicide if he refused.

The woman reportedly sent a love letter purportedly written in blood, along with tablets and bouquets, to the police station. She has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

According to the FIR filed by Inspector Satish GI on Friday, the harassment began in October when he received a WhatsApp call on his official government number.

The caller, who introduced herself as Sanjana, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar, told him that she was in love with him and demanded that he reciprocate her feelings. Thinking it was a prank call, the inspector blocked the number. But she continued calling him from multiple mobile numbers, forcing him to block nearly 10 numbers.

The woman later claimed to be a Congress worker and allegedly sent photographs of herself with senior political leaders, including the chief minister, home minister, deputy chief minister and women and child development minister. She allegedly used the images to pressure the inspector into accepting her love.

The inspector received calls from the offices of the home minister and DCM, enquiring why he had not acted on a complaint from a woman named Sanjana. The inspector clarified that no such person had filed any complaint and informed them that the woman was behaving irrationally, the FIR stated.

Satish stated that the woman visited the police station in his absence and falsely claimed to be his relative. She left a bouquet and a box of sweets in his office. On November 7, she visited the station again and handed him an envelope containing three letters and two strips of anti-depressant tablets.

Two of the letters were reportedly her love proposals, stating that her efforts to win his affection had failed and she wished not to trouble him further.

The letters allegedly threatened suicide and stated that the inspector would be responsible for her death. Another letter contained the initials ‘S/S’ with a heart symbol and the words ‘CHINNI, LOVE YOU, YOU LOVE ME’, were written in her blood.

The inspector filed a complaint at the station before filing an FIR. The police traced the woman and questioned her, but she did not cooperate with the inquiry. It was learned that she had previously targeted both senior and junior police officers using similar methods. A special report was submitted to senior officers. Despite this, on December 12, the woman allegedly returned to the police station, behaved aggressively, demanded that the inspector love her secretly, and threatened to damage his reputation and die by suicide if he refused, the FIR stated.

Based on Satish’s complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 132 (assault to deter a public servant from duty), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 221 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions) of the BNS.
