BENGALURU: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao directed officials to make information regarding Pulse Polio vaccination centres easily accessible to citizens across all the five corporation limits.
At a virtual meeting on Friday regarding the organisation of the Pulse Polio vaccination campaign in the city, he instructed officials to make details of vaccination booths available to the public.
He emphasised that all necessary preparations must be completed across the five city corporations to achieve 100% coverage under the National Pulse Polio Programme, scheduled from June 28 to July 1. A target is set to administer Pulse Polio drops 11,34,988 children below five years of age.
Health Department Special Commissioner Venkatachalapathi said widespread awareness regarding Pulse Polio must be created among citizens. He instructed officials to involve students from nursing colleges, medical colleges and paramedical institutions as volunteers to ensure that polio drops reach every eligible child.
Venkatachalapathi emphasised that all children, from newborns up to five years of age, must mandatorily receive two drops of the polio vaccine.
A total of 4,452 vaccination centres, including 3,391 fixed booths, 597 transit teams and 464 mobile teams, will operate across the city during the campaign.
