Man pushes mother to death over property dispute in Bengaluru

The woman lost balance, banged her head against the edge of a wooden table and fell unconscious. The accused locked the door and went outside.

BENGALURU: A verbal altercation between a 80-year-old woman and her son has led to her death on Wednesday at 11.30 am in Channapatna Town police limits. The accused fought with his mother over a property which was in her name.

The deceased, Channamma, was a resident of KSIC Colony at Manalavarapete in Channapatna. The arrested accused, S Krishna (49), an auto driver was living in the vicinity. Channamma’s husband had purchased a house in the KSIC quarters. After his death, Channamma continued living there. Krishna wanted the house to be registered in his name.

During the heated argument, he pushed her. The woman lost balance, banged her head against the edge of a wooden table and fell unconscious. The accused locked the door and went outside. When he returned after three hours, she was still lying on the floor. He tried to wake her up, only to realise that she had died. A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder is registered against the accused.

“The accused returned home and found his mother dead. He is arrested,” said an officer. Krishna informed his sister and two brothers about the incident at 3 pm.
