THE story starts with Narada, who is known for creating trouble in the lifves of others eventually giving it good ending. In Maya Bazaar, Narada decides to create trouble in the life of Balarama’s daughter Sasirekha who is engaged at a very young age to Abhimanyu, son of Arjuna. Narada influences Balarama’s wife to get her daughter married to Duryodhana’s son, Laxmanakumaran instead of Abhimanyu as the Pandavas are in exile. When Sasirekha and Abhimanyu get shocked by this decision, Abhimanyu and his mother Subhadra go in search of the Pandavas upon Lord Krishna’s advice. And there they meet Hidimbi, the rakshasi and her son Ghatotkatcha, who eventually end up helping the mother and son find a solution to their problem.

Every scene had new backdrops, with birds flying, and Abhimanyu riding into the forest on a chariot. The entry of Hidimbi and her son Ghatotkatcha was dramatic, with fire emission. The fight between Ghatotkatcha and Abhimanyu was a visual treat, with arrows colliding and bursting noisily. Ghatotkatcha turns into Sasirekha, dancing, romancing and marrying Laxmanakumaran.

Despite the play being staged in Telugu, language didn't seem to be a barrier as the props and characters conveyed the message effectively.

The play was put up by Surabhi from Hyderabad on Sunday evening at the Music Academy.
