CHENNAI: Some of the most unique rudrakshas like Indra Maala, which costs above Rs 75 lakh, 1 Mukh Round Rudraksha, Naga Rudraksha, Srikanta Maala, Siddha Maala, Trijuti, and Third Eye, are on display at the Rudraksha Exhibition cum Sale at CP Art Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.
Organised by Indo-Nepal Rudraksha Organisation, the exhibition aims to create awareness to public on rudrakshas, says G Panduranga Rao, director of Indo-Nepal Rudraksha Organisation. A Rudraksha Specialist and Vedic Mathematician, Panduranga says, “A rudraksha with 32 faces is the only one at present in the world and people from all over the world come to see it. There is historical evidence only for 29 faces, but this one is very rare and not for sale.” The rudraksha is displayed at the expo for the first time in Chennai. “This is the 14th exhibition we’re organising in Chennai and we get very good response here, besides Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata,” he adds.
Spatika Maalas, Navarathan Malas, Spatika Lingam, Japa Malas and Rudraksha Malas are also on display.
He also stresses that originality is very important in rudrakshas as duplicate ones are easily available in various places. “The Gouri Shankar Rudraksha symbolizes Lord Shiva and the goddess Parvati. It is a rare one,” Panduranga says.
A mala consisting of all 1 to 14 mukhis is called Siddha Mala, and a rare and round one mukhi is known as Savari. Naga Rudraksha signifies health and wealth. Rudrakshas at the expo are available from Rs 50 onwards.
With your date of birth, Panduranga will suggest which rudraksha is suitable for one to wear. The expo is on till February 5, between 10.30 am to 8 pm.
