TN gets its first woman DGP

CHENNAI: IPS officer Letika Saran on Tuesday became the first woman in the State to be promoted to the rank of DGP. She will be the new DGP (Training) Chennai. Till now, Saran was ADGP (Administration), Chennai.

Bhola Nath, ADGP, Headquarters, Chennai, had been promoted as DGP/Chairman, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, Chennai, said a press release issued by the Home department on Tuesday.

The government also transferred four police officials with immediate effect. N Balachandran, the current chairman of the Recruitment Board, has been transferred and posted as DGP/Chairman, Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation Ltd, Chennai.

R C Kudawla, IGP, North Zone, Chennai, had been transferred and posted as IGP, Crime, Special Investigation Team, Chennai, while Ashish Bhengra, IGP, Administration, Chennai, would occupy the position vacated by him. R Sekar, ADGP, Crime, Chennai, had been transferred and posted as ADGP (Administration). Archana Ramachandran, ADGP, Crime Branch CID, Chennai, would hold additional charge of the post of ADGP, Crime, Chennai, the release added.

The release also announced postings of four Assistant Superintendents of Police. A Saravanan had been posted as ASP, Aranthangi Sub Division, while S Xavier Dhanaraj will be the new ASP, Chengalpattu Sub-Division.

Anil Kumar Giri has been posted as ASP, Thoothukudi Town Sub-Division, while Pravesh Kumar would be the ASP for Paramakudi Division. S Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, on inter-cadre deputation from J&K, had been posted as ASP of Thanjavur Town Sub-Division, the release said.
