CHENNAI: The craving to wear silk sarees still exists among Indian women. As we know, most of the sarees are handloom woven by different techniques that include embroidery, block printing, stitching and other combined techniques.

Such exquisite, heavy sarees are available in parts of Bengal. You can now get these artistic drapes right here in Chennai. Head to the three-day exhibition titled Karomi that is on at Silkworm Boutique on Khader Nawaz Khan Road till August 22.

The collections include Phulwari Kota, Bagh, Kalika, Blue Blood and Aam Bahaar. The ones that will steal the show are Paalki and Nakkashi, the styles of which are characterised by a combination of hand-weaving and hand-block printing.

The cost of the collections ranges from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the amount of silk, embroidery work and the time taken to complete one saree.

So, stock up those exclusive silk sarees, as they are purely handloomed with a touch of contemporary look.
