The proof of the pudding is in the eating. The success of a theatre group is defined by the acclaim they get for each of their production and Natakhapriya has been running full house for quite some time. Ellamey Thamaashthan, staged by Natakhapriya, which is headed by the Tamil playwright and film actor S Ve Shekhar, has succeeded in engaging the audience, ably supported by the evergreen tunes of RD Burman.

The plot revolves around the hero Gopi (S Ve Shekhar) and his ladylove Chitra and their relationship. The plot may sound trite but the enactment surely is not. Set in an extremely humorous milieu, the play is about forged identities for Gopi and Chitra to get married.

The dialogue rendition that is done with perfect ease by S Ve Shekhar is something that amateurs should imbibe. The characters in the play complemented each other making the play more interesting. The seasoned actor/director takes a dig at the current political scenario and cinema. The set created the apt mood for every scene and was backed by the right kind of background music.

The motto of this theatre group to evoke in as many as “100 minutes – 200 times the laughter” did hold well from the very beginning. S Ve Shekhar has proved his worth as one of the best comedy writers with this play and has hit a purple patch with this hilarious production.
