CHENNAI: With the release of the multimedia-based modules in Physics and Chemistry for classes VI to VIII by Vineet Joshi, IAS, chairman, CBSE at IIT Madras, an initiative by the Kuruvilla Jacob Education Memorial Trust  on Tuesday, the  school students can now have the experience of a virtual labs and a clear understanding of the basic concepts in a much elaborate and clear way.

The modules will cater to CBSE, ICSE and Tamil Nadu State Board  of education. Vineet Joshi said the modules are meant to supplement teaching. Students can fearlessly learn on the web, and keep attempting different questions till they reach the right answer.

About 80 faculty members from 22 schools in the city worked on the web content. The content can be accessed from the website www.kji.iitm.nic.in and be downloaded too; it is meant as a

tool for not just students but teachers as well. While the IIT Madras will provide support for the project, it was funded by the Kuruvila Jacob Foundation.The modules can be downloaded for free and in the form of DVD also. at The Project Coordinator, PO Box no: 1, Padi, Chennai-50 or email to kuruvilajacobinitiative@gmail.com
