CHENNAI: It’s been 40 years since East Pakistan began going by the independent name of Bangladesh. After a long struggle with Pakistan, the war ended and our neighbour on the East was liberated. It goes without saying that hundreds of brave soldiers from all three services - Army, Navy and Air Force, sacrificed themselves for the cause. On Friday morning, 1,500 kms away in Chennai, those veterans and their sacrifices were remembered as part of Vijay Diwas, with a wreath-laying ceremony. May their souls rest in peace.
