CHENNAI: The AIADMK would hold a demonstration in Poonamallee Kumananchavadi bus stand here on Monday to condemn the Union Government for not arresting former union telecom minister A Raja in the 2G spectrum issue and to urge the State government to provide basic amenities in Poonamallee.
AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa alleged that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and the Congress party were trying to close the spectrum case. “Despite the CBI raids and investigation, no action has been taken. The opinion of Union Minister Kapil Sibal on the issue and non-arrest of Raja are both condemnable,” she said in a statement.
CIVIC WOES: Jayalalithaa said basic amenities in Poonamallee Panchayat Union were in shambles. Almost 21 wards in Poonamallee town and places coming under Kattupakkam village panchayat have bad roads. Also, the link roads in Kattupakkam-Kumananchavadi, Valayanallur, Sittukadu, Kottiyambakkam, Tirumanam, Melmanampedu and Vellavedu have been damaged affecting public transportation, she said.
“Parivakkam and 10 nearby villages are hit by frequent power cuts. The 1000-acre farm lands at Kolappancheri, Kuttambakkam, Padur and Neman have been damaged in the recent rains and farmers are yet to get any relief,” she said.
