CHENNAI: Seeman, founder of the Naam Thamizhar party, on Thursday urged the Director General of Police (DGP) K Ramanujan to arrest those accused of murdering his party functionary Muthukumar.

After meeting the DGP, Seeman told reporters that he was happy with the progress of the probe into the case. Muthukumar, an active member of Naam Thamizhar Party, had played a decisive role in sending medicines and first aid to Sri Lanka during the final days of the Eelam War IV to help Tamil civilians. He was hacked to death by an unknown gang, about 100 days ago.

“The police have seized the vehicle and weapons used to murder him. We are confident that they will solve the case soon,’’ he said.

Seeman also said that he expected the new AIADMK government to pass a resolution in the Assembly to demanding that “war criminal” Mahinda Rajapaksa be punished and a resolution urging the Indian government to impose an economic blockade on Sri Lanka.
