The busy Paper Mills Road in Perambur has been in a bad condition for several months. Heavy vehicles and traffic coupled with stagnant water after even brief spells of rain have washed the black topping away in many places. Recently, the worst sections of the road had been patched up albeit shoddily. At other places along the stretch, gravel has been used to fill up potholes.
This poses a threat to those on two-wheelers as it has spread all over the road. Perambur High Road has its share of crater-like potholes, causing traffic to slow down at several points.
Among the worst stretches of road in the city, is MTH Road.There is barely any black topping left; despite the fact that it has not rained for over a week, water still stagnates along the side of the road reducing passageway for both those on vehicles and on foot.
Residents report several accidents especially during the rains and allege that the authorities have neglected the stretch for close to a year now. The 2.7 km from Padi Flyover to the Ambattur Estate bus stop can take close to an hour to cover. Those travelling to Ambattur are best advised to take alternative routes till the road is set right.
