Awareness rally held

The Nanganallur Thambraas Seva Trust and Sri Chakra Hospital, Hariharan Diabetes & Heart Care Hospital jointly conducted a dengue and diabetes awareness rally in Nanganallur, recently.

Several people participated in the rally and distributed pamphlets that carried information about symptoms of dengue fever, preventive measures, mosquito control measures and treatment available.

The rally was flagged off by V N P Venkatraman, Chairman, Zone 12, Chennai Corporation. In his speech, he highlighted the various  awareness programmes and measures taken by the Government and Chennai Corporation for controlling  dengue.

He lauded the Nanganallur Thambraas Seva Trust for conducting the rally. Ward councillor (167 ward), Hema Bharani Prasad was also present.

R Mohan, Zonal Officer, Zone 11 (Alandur), Kalyani - Zonal Health Office - Zone 12, R Bharathiraja - Sanitary Inspector-Division 166 &167  of Chennai Corporation spoke at length on various  preventive measures for dengue fever and alerted people about the seriousness of water clogging, which is one of the main causes of mosquito infestation. They also advised them to clean their overhead tanks, water pumps and other water storage containers once a week and treat the water with chlorine.

Dr Satyanarayanan, founder, SriChakra Hospital,  spoke about the symptoms of dengue fever and treatment for it. He said the dengue patients in his hospital were responding to the treatment and recovering well.
