The State issued a gazette notification listing the requirements that school buses and their drivers and conductors will have to meet, in the wake of several accidents involving such vehicles that have led to the deaths of children.
Rules regarding bus permits, qualifications and duties of bus drivers and attenders, construction, maintenance and special permit conditions have been listed in the notification. The driver’s cabin is to be separated by a grilled partition, it said. In case of vehicles which do not comply with these requirements, the change should be made before November 1.
