Man ends life over tiff with wife

A 40-year-old man allegedly hanged to death after his wife left home with two children following a domestic dispute, police said on Saturday.

Police said Tamilarasan (40), a resident of TNHB Colony in Velachery, ran a grocery store in the neighbourhood. He was apparently depressed after his wife Nageshwari had a fight with him moved to her brother’s place recently, police said. She had also taken their children Ramkumar (11) and Tamilselvan (9) with her.

Police said Tamilarasan is believed to have hanged himself on Friday night after his efforts to convince her failed. The neighbours, who knew the routine of Tamilarasan, grew suspicious as the doors remained closed even after 6 am. Peeping through the window, they saw him hanging from the ceiling.

Police was informed about the incident and the body was sent to Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Mentally-challenged Man Found Dead

A mentally-challenged man was found hanging from a tree at Otteri, here on Saturday evening.

Police said that the person, whose identity was not known, had been wandering  in front of Otteri Police Station. Around 5 pm he was found hanging from a tree in Pananthope Railway Colony. Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem to the KMC. The cause of death could be ascertained only after the post-mortem report, cops added.

Teenager Held For Chain-snatching

A 19-year-old was arrested by the police on Friday on charges of snatching a woman’s three-sovereign gold chain. Velu, a resident Perambur, had snatched Leelavathi’s chain in Ayanavaram a few day’s back when she was going to her mother’s house, police said.
