Ex-ADGP submits surety

Express News Service

Former Additional Director General of Police K Thukkaiandi appeared before the Judicial Magistrate Court at Alandur on Monday and submitted property documents as surety, days after the Madras High Court granted him anticipatory bail in connection with a land-grabbing case.

Sources said the former ADGP submitted a property document worth Rs 1 lakh as surety. His daughter Yamini, also named in the case, did not appear before the court.

Magistrate Balasubramaniam directed Thukkaiandi to also appear before the Central Crime Branch located at the Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner’s Office, Egmore everyday for the next two weeks starting Tuesday.

Earlier, the Madras High Court on October 5 granted advance bail to Thukkaiandi and his daughter Yamini in connection with the land grabbing case.

The judge said that as far as Thukkaiandi and his daughter were concerned, they were only name lenders and their custodial interrogation was not necessary and therefore he was granting advance bail to the duo with certain conditions. The court, however, rejected the advance bail plea of his wife T Subbulakshmi.
