Express News Service

Another child, who returned a positive test result for dengue, died in the city on Monday. And as has been the case with most other deaths linked to the disease, officials have chosen to blame it on respiratory failure. In the wee hours of Monday, a seven-year-old girl from Kancheepuram died at the Institute of Child Health in Egmore. The patient Bowshiya’s father Jailabuddin, who runs a small hotel in Kancheepuram, confirmed that the medical report stated ‘dengue’ as a cause of death.

Meanwhile, reports came in that at least 15 members of a college hostel in Arumbakkam had come with high fever and were being tested for dengue. Officials have maintained that the situation is under control and there is nothing to worry about.
