IOC allays fears of piped LPG consumers

Express News Service

Allaying fears of those living in apartments using piped LPG, the Indian Oil Corporation on Monday said the number of cylinders to be supplied at subsidised rates to the housing societies will be limited to the net entitled quantity based on individual consumption. In other words,  six cylinders per year, per household.

However, for the current financial year ending March 31, 2013, three 14.2-kg cylinders would be supplied.

A release issued by State-level Coordinator for Oil Industry for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry said as per the announcement made by the government, all LPG consumers are eligible for three subsidised domestic cylinders from September 14, 2012 upto March 31, 2013. There is no restriction in the number of domestic non-subsidised cylinders that consumers can avail beyond the three subsidized LPG refills.

Effective from April 1, 2013, LPG consumers can avail six domestic subsidised LPG cylinders per financial year.

The release said the oil marketing companies have also undertaken the Know Your Customer (KYC) exercise in a phased manner starting with the consumers identified as having multiple connections. The consumers, the release said, are requested to co-operate in completing this exercise quickly so that they are not inconvenienced in future.
