Understanding of god
What I understand of god is what purely comes out of the belief that there exists a higher power. A power that created man, the earth and everything else. I cannot give one name to this high power. Perhaps it is an amalgamation of three powers. This quest for, “who is god? what does he do? what is the future?” has been asked for ages. I think the answer lies in between the questions — “Is there god? and “Is there no god?”
Faith in miracles
I do believe in miracles but in today’s time everything is supported by a scientific explanation. And hence, realists choose to believe in science, while dreamers choose to believe in miracles.
Religious practices
I do not practise anything religious. A small prayer, probably a call of hope to a higher power is all I do when needed. I was brought up in a rather liberal Muslim family and what I practise is perhaps more to do with tradition rather than belief.
Spiritual belief
A small prayer, rather a call to a higher power and meditation helps. And that is spiritual for me. I do not indulge myself in anything complicated. I believe spiritual belief lies in the most simplest of practises.
Take on meditation
Although I haven’t committed myself to meditation I do believe the process can help you declutter your mind. I meditate if and when I feel troubled. I also think meditation is the best way to attain peace of mind. Inner peace, if I may call it that.
Favourite pilgrimage spots
Rishikesh, Badrinath and Kedarnath or the Himalayan towns are what attracts me the most. There is a sense of tranquillity in those places which is difficult to get anywhere else.
