Chinmayi approaches police against Twitter taunts

Express News Service

Playback singer Chinmayi knocked on City Police Commissioner’s door to take action against those bullying her in the cyber-space, here on Thursday.

Chinmayi, in her complaint, stated that there were harsh remarks by a few persons in the social media. Such remarks were reflecting in her Twitter and Facebook accounts, she said. She also pointed out the audacious comments when she disagreed to a point in the social media which went on to say that she had to be raped and cut to pieces to teach her a lesson. Her attempts to block the Twitter handles that were making such obscene remarks were greeted with a backlash, a virtual campaign projecting her as anti-Tamil, Tamil tweeters and Tamil bloggers.

She had submitted proofs for such objectionable content posted against her in the social media with the Commissioner. Her complaint also charged that a producer had not paid her for two shows organised.

After lodging a complaint she tweeted as following in her twitter handle @Chinmayi: Mom and I filed a case at the Commissioner’s office today. Hopefully some people will be brought to book.
