In the second such incident reported in a month, the Anna Square police rescued a 10-day-old baby abandoned on the Marina in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The baby was abandoned under a cartwheel used by traders near the shore on the backside of the Labour Statue, police sources said. It was wrapped in a cloth when it was identified by an early morning walker, who informed the police. The incident has raised the concerns of the local shopkeepers. Early in October, the body of an infant was found at an almost identical location. Shopkeepers who spoke to Express said the incidents usually took place in the early hours when those on the beach were fast asleep.
