Aeronautical engineer killed in road mishap

It was a tragic Ayudha Puja for the family of Hemachandran (32), an aeronautical engineer who was hit by a speeding truck on Tuesday and was killed near Palavanthangal.

According to the police sources, Hemachandran had been employed by a private airline company. On Tuesday afternoon, when he was on his way back home, he was hit by a speeding mini-lorry, when he was waiting to take a turn at the Palavanthangal signal.

The driver of the mini-lorry , Sivakumar (20), had lost control of the vehicle and had slammed into  a car and the bike that Hemachandran was riding. He suffered injuries on his head.

The passerdby rushed Hemachandran to a nearby nursing home. However, he  he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the van was held and has been remanded to police custody.
