Anandh C Ramanathan, with the pseudonym ‘Aani’ meaning nail, rolled out his debut poetic work titled Vindayai Viriyudhadi (Expanding wonder) on New Year’s Day at Egmore here in Chennai. Son of eminent lawyer Ananda Coomaraswamy, Ramanathan is a vascular surgeon in Sydney.
A Lankan Tamil by origin, he is now a permanent resident in Australia. Speaking to City Express about his interest in poetry he said that his Tamil teacher James had inspired him to write poetry during his school days.
The book has 80 poems on subjects, including nature, devotion and love.
The book was released by poet Thamizhachi Thangapandiyan and was received by Tiruppur Krishnan, editor, Amudhasurabhi, and was published by Mithra publications.
Delivering the presidential address, poet Avvai Natarajan said, “The poetic work shows maturity and professionalism which is very rare to find in the very first novel.”
Avvai Natarajan also urged Ramanathan to release more poetic works in future. Ramanathan, thanking the guests, said that his passion towards poetry had helped him find time between his work.
He also expressed his desire to write novels in future.
