Bhuvaneshwari (25) was killed and two children were injured when the balcony of a residential building collapsed at TNSCB colony in Teynampet here on Sunday.
The injured kids - Rudesh (9) and Adavan (8) - have been admitted in the Rajiv Gandhi GGH. Doctors at the RGGGH said the extent of their injuries would be known only on Monday.
Mayor Saidai Duraisamy visited the spot. Ward councillor Sivaraj said the houses in the area could be structurally unsound.
“We will check the structural strength of all the houses in the area. We will also take action to strengthen the structures that are found to be weak,” he said and added that the second floor of the house has been constructed illegally.
