Two school students, one from Dubai and the other the US, performed at a mikeless kutcheri on Sunday at the Nageswara Rao Park. The event was held as part of the monthly Sunday kutcheri organised by Sundaram Finance.
Aditya Ravikanth from Massachusetts and Sowmya Lakshmi from Dubai presented a lovely rendition of songs that included a variety of raagams.
While Aditya Ravikanth’s songs comprised some popular Carnatic numbers like Vinayaka (Hamsadhwani Ragam/Adi Taalam), Sadaachal-eswaram (Bhoopalam/Adi) and Meenakshi Me Mudam (Poorvikalyani/ Adi), Sowmya’s compositions included an array of melodious songs like Maa Jaanaki (Kamboji /Aadhi) and Bandureethi (Hamsanadham/Aadhi), Pattanam Subrahmaniayer’s Aparaadha (Lathangi/ Aadhi), Gopalakrishna bharathi’s Sabhapathikku (Aabhogi Roopakam ) and Vanamaali Jeeyar’s Janaki Ramana (Kaappi/ Aadhi).
The two young vocal artistes were effectively supported by instrumentalists R Kishore (mridangam) and Parur Ananthalakshmi (violin)
The event is held every first Sunday of the month to promote young musical talent under 15 and so far round 700 children have performed at the event.
