Remembering the legendary Rangabashyam

The Madras Medical College conducted a condolence meeting for the late gastroenterologist Dr N Rangabashyam here on Monday. The doctor, who was known as the pioneer of surgical gastroenterology, passed away in his sleep peacefully on Sunday. He was 79 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

His daughter, Dr Mahalakshmi, also attended the condolence meeting. Senior Professors of Surgical Gastro Enterology Dr.Ahmed Ali, Dr R P Shanmugam, Dr Srikumari Damodharam and Senior Professors of Medical Gastroenterology Dr Raghuraman and Dr Veerabahu attended the meeting. Dr Vyjayanthimala Bali also attended the memorial service.

All the Professors emphasised the good qualities of Professor N Rangabashyam’s teaching abilities, surgical skills, innovative ideas/skills in the Gastroenterology Department.
