AIEMA scholarships for meritorious students

Celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year, the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers’ Association (AIEMA) presented scholarships to nearly 247 students who scored good marks in higher secondary, diploma courses, ITI, engineering and art courses, at an event held on the AIEMA campus on Saturday.

The scholarships were handed over to the students by JCD Prabhakar, the chairman of TANSIDCO, who presided over the function in the absence of the chief guests, V Moorthy (Minister for Milk and Dairy Development) and S Abdul Rahim (Minister for Backward Classes and Minorities’ Welfare) who could not make it to the programme.

At this annual event, all students, whose parental income was less than `20,000 were awarded cash prizes. The total scholarship amount allotted for the students this year was `11 lakh. The students said that these scholarships motivated them to work hard every year.

Prabhakar said that the government would come forward with lot of skill development programmes through the ‘Project Vision 2013’ initiated by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

“The Vision 2023 programme will comprise several skill development programmes and a substantial amount of financial assistance for development of trade skills among boys and girls, in whom we have full confidence in building a strong nation,” he said.
