CM opens Rs 17 crore cancer centre at Royapettah GH

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday inaugurated a new cancer treatment centre set up at a cost of Rs 17 crore at the Royapettah Government Hospital here. She also declared open a new office complex for the Chennai Medical College, special maternity centre, additional buildings for medical colleges, buildings for 16 primary health centres and additional buildings for 13 government hospitals, all constructed at a cost of Rs 135.52 crore.

The special maternity centre at Kasturba Gandhi Government Hospital set up at a cost of Rs 16.65 crore, additional buildings constructed for Chennai Stanley hospital, Kilpauk and Chengleput medical colleges built at a cost of Rs 36.29 crore, new complex for eight departments in Chennai Medical College at a cost of Rs 56.63 crore, Health and Family Welfare training centre at Egmore (Rs 7 crore), paediatric centres and maternity centres constructed at a cost of Rs 14.83 crore in various districts, 16 primary health centres and office buildings for the health department constructed at a cost of Rs 4.12 crore, were among those inaugurated by the Chief Minister on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister inaugurated the new ration shop at Thiruverkadu, constructed at a cost of Rs 4.87 lakh, new buildings for five ration shops, nine direct procurement centres for paddy, three godowns and office building, all constructed at a cost of Rs 3.55 crore.

Five ration shops (two in Villivakkam, three in Vyasarpadi) with solar panels, nine direct procurement centres at Vettuvakkottai, Pallathur, Aralur, Kottur and Akkaraikottakam, Kachanagarm, Ilanthoppu, Seeyathamangai and Agaraorathur, office building for Civil Supplies Department at Thousandlights, 1,000 metric tonne capacity godown constructed at Sivayam in Karur district and two godowns in Mint in Chennai for the Civil Supplies Department were also inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
