NCC camp conducted at Soka Ikeda College

1(TN) Armed Squadron NCC conducted the CATC-cum-IGC/RDC Training Camp at Soka Ikeda College of  Arts & Science College  for Women, Madhanangkuppam from September 6 to 15.

1(TN) Armed Squadron NCC conducted the CATC-cum-IGC/RDC Training Camp at Soka Ikeda College of  Arts & Science College  for Women, Madhanangkuppam from September 6 to 15. Five hundred and forty six cadets from various schools and colleges participated. These included colleges like DG Vaishnav College, Pachaiyappa’s College, New College and Alpha Arts & Science College participated and schools like Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Velammal HSS, Murthuzaviya HSS, St Paul’s HSS, Kerela Vidyalayam HSS, Kendriya Vidyalaya Anna Nagar, Vellamal Mat HSS, MPU HSS, SKPD HSS, HUC HSS, Jamaliya HSS.Vivekanda Vidyalaya, Dr GM TTV HSS, GPCCK Shoalvaram HSS, etc  and various units from 1(TN) Girls, 1 (TN) Bn NCC, 10 (TN) Bn NCC.

Lt Col Ajay Dhawan, OC, 1(TN) Armd Sqn NCC was the Camp Commandant. The open address for the camp was given by Lt Col Ajay Dhawan . In his address he asked the NCC Cadets to be punctual and alsosaid that the cadets would have Firing, Drill Competition, Guard of Honor Competition and Cultural Competitions during the Camp. Various topics like Health and Hygiene, National Integration, Know your country and Military subjects were also covered.

There was also a cancer awareness programme conducted as part of the camp. Karthik Lakshman, research associate from the Department of  Physiology  Oncology, Cancer Institute Adyar created an awareness about cancer among the cadets. Other highlights were a firing competition and tree planting by the cadets on the campus,  in the presence of Camp Commandent Lt. Col Ajay Dhawan and  Dr. Rani Christhu Dhas, Principal, in the presence of Camp Commandent Lt Col Ajay Dhawan and  Dr Rani Christhu Dhas, Principal, Soka Ikeda College.
